EU Commissioner Janez Potocnik, and Philippe Busquin, Member of European Parliament, joined research partners from across Europe to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the European Researcher’s Mobility Portal – embedded in the new
EURAXESS Web Portal.
The European Commission is intensifying efforts to promote the mobility and career development of researchers and thereby establish Europe as a leading area of excellence in scientific research. The objective of the Portal is to provide a single access point to information and support services which assist researchers and their families in moving to and pursuing careers in another Member State.
Commissioner Potocnik underlined the importance of EURAXESS:
“The path to knowledge in Europe is often obscured by a lack of or dispatched information on available career opportunities, language and cultural barriers. The EURAXESS web portal and services is overcoming many of these challenges”.
Human resources in research are one of the cornerstones of the European knowledge system. Researchers are at the heart of knowledge creation, transfer and exploitation. To maximise the full potential of EURAXESS, collaboration with Member States is crucial. This goes hand in hand with the newly adopted Partnership for Researchers between the European Commission and the Member States which aims to improve careers development and mobility of researchers.
"EURAXESS-Researcher in Motion" hosts the following initiatives:
• EURAXESS Jobs
a recruitment tool with constantly updated job vacancies for researchers throughout Europe;
• EURAXESS Services
assist researchers and their family to organise their stay in a foreign country;
• EURAXESS Rights (European Charter & Code)
set out the rights and duties of researchers and their employers
• EURAXESS Links
a networking tool for European researchers working outside Europe (US, Japan)
