The Smoler Protein Research Center was established by the Technion and Israel Ministry of Science to facilitates a direct access to state of the art technologies, instrumentation and knowhow in the fields of protein purification and analysis to all researchers in the life sciences in Israel. This goal has been achieved by installing advanced instruments and the recruitment of skilled personnel to run the Center. During the last seven years of activities the center has been open to all researches in the universities, research centers and biotechnology industries in Israel performing needed analysis on demand. Lately the center was upgraded and serves now as a national proteomic center.
The newly designated Smoler Proteomics Center is a center of knowledge and technology in both analytical and functional proteomics and can perform large-scale comparative analysis of proteins and their posttranslational modifications. The Center offers researchers from the nation’s universities, research institutes, hospitals, and biotechnology companies direct access to the center’s technology and expertise, including protein and peptide mass spectrometry, micro-chromatography, two-dimensional chromatography, and electrophoresis as well as in analyzing minute amounts of proteins. The center activities are both services and research collaboration on a first comes, first served basis. Until now, researchers from all universities and from more then 50 biotech companies have been using the center facilities and expertise.
