The Ministry of Science and Technology has determined to hold international conferences as one of the means for executing its policy. The conferences aid the Ministry in achieving several goals:

·   Turning the focus of attention of the Israeli Scientific Community to the fields the Ministry prioritizes;

·   Expanding existent dialog and creating working relations between the scientist   who are involved with the preferred fields, in relation both to the National and International aspects;

·   Exposing Israeli accomplishments in preferred fields to Israeli scientists' attention;

·   Strengthening collaboration between scientists and research institutes in Israel, and their counterparts in selected target countries;

·   Information distribution regarding the Ministry of Science and Technology actions and providing explanations regarding these actions.

The Ministry holds two kinds of conferences, on a yearly basis:

·   International conferences (1-2 per year)

·   Binational conferences held in accordance to cooperation agreement between Israel and other countries (12-13 per year)

The Ministry occasionally holds national conferences or research days.

In addition, the Ministry supports international conferences that are held by the scientific community in the high-education and research institutes.

The Ministry of Science and Technology publishes a call for proposal once a year, and invites the scientific community from the high-education and research institutes to submit requests for support for scientific conferences they arrange.

The Support will be given in accordance with the test for support distribution in the field of science, as they were published in the Publications Anthology 4299, 1995, and in Publications Anthology 5302, 2004, pt III – "Supported Bodies/Subject", in the subject subscribed under clause 3 – scientific conventions only.

The Ministry wishes to clarify that it will perform the discussion regarding support requests procedure, as situated in the clause, in accordance to the regulation set by the Minister of Finance, regarding support distribution, in accordance to the instruction of clause 3(a) of the Budget Basis law, 1985, in correspondence to their validity during the time of the discussion regarding the request.

Any institute that sees itself worthy to receive the support according to the test stated above is welcome to submit a request to the ministry's Assets Unit. The requests are to be submitted by use of the relevant forms, and attached with all relevant documents relevant to the request. The Ministry hereby calls request submitters' attention to support request regulations, the documents, the details and information they are requested to submit as part of the request. Only request that will be filled according to the regulations, including all relevant documents would be discussed in the Support Committee.

Support will be granted to public institutes whose main fields of activities revolve around the following subjects:

·   Teaching, Research and Development (excluding funding and support to subjects regarding continuous activities in teaching and academic research in high-education institutions.

·   Training promotion activities, enhancing the awareness and scientific and technological level among youth and adults.

·   Arrangement of national and international scientific conferences.

·   Professional and Scientific publications

·   International science contacts development.

·   Concentration and Publication of scientific and technological information

Support will be given mainly for hosting foreign lecturers, advertising relevant records for the conference subsidization of scientists and student participation. The sum of support funds per conference shall not exceed 10,000 NIS.
