The Ministry of Science and Technology was established in 1982, following the recommendations of the government appointed Iftah Committee.

The lesson was led by the Israeli Ministry of Science and Technology in 13 research institutions country-wide.
Guinness World Records has recognized Israel's Science and Technology Ministry for holding the "largest chemistry lesson" in the world. The lesson drew 4,207 participants.
